Related Contacts against Listings
It would be great to be able to add:
Buyer's settlement agent
Seller's settlement agent
Finance broker
Tenant
Power of Attorney
As related contacts to a listing so that when you are setting reminders or tracks, for example, send copy of contract to Finance broker, you can add them as a related contact. Also just handy to be able to access their details from the main screen rather than having to dip into legal/contract tab or property record to get details.
We are excited to announce that you can now create custom contact relationship types for listings & properties! This lets you define relationships such as Tenant, Power of Attorney, Finance Broker, and so on.

I'm also going to add that if you are notifying a tenant of a sales viewing, the ability to send them an SMS via Rex to confirm times etc would be super-handy! So yes we would use the merge function if tenants were added as related contacts on a listing.

Having tenant details clickable from the Listing would make Rex a lot more useable as a "one stop" database. When a buyer walks in and wants to view a property, it is so much easier to (a) see instantly that the property is tenanted and (b) make the call to the tenant without having to then click in to the property. Sure it only takes a second or so to click but on a slow internet day it's really annoying to wait... and wait... and wait for the property page to load. Some days it's faster to walk to the filing cabinet and work off the paper file. I dread to think what it would be like with a satellite connection! Please do this.

Under Related contacts an Option for Solicitor would great instead of having to do a Custom Relationship every time.

Thank you so much on following up on this. I can't see bulk mail merges being necessary as these options would always be specific to individual properties. I think 'other' and the option to type a description would be great.

The problem with putting the tenant details in the note field is that once you put a name and phone number in there is no room left to put any other info you might need about the property. This note field needs to allow a lot more characters then it does at present.

Dear Rex Software,
R Bien is 100% correct, the tenant details need to be on the listing not on the property, we always work with the listing not the property once it is on the market. Then once the tenant moves out or the property is sold we can remove the tenant details. Being able to get to tenant details fast helps salespeople heaps. At Bathurst Real Estate we would see this as a huge benefit..

Related contacts on listings are mainly used for corresponding with those related contacts via merges.
You can add in that a listing is tenanted from the listing in the Key Details tab, under the Office Use Only section, in the "reqs" field.
You can also put a note next to this field with the tenant's name and any other details you wish to include.

Hi Guys,
Our only concern with this is how it is likely to affect BULK mail merge.
We could possibly create a relationship type of "Other" and let you type what you want (similar to contacts) however, when you go to send a bulk mail merge (from the list view), there won't be anyway to select this group of people.
Have a think on this and come back to us and let us know if you think this might be an issue... it could possibly not be, but it's our main concern at this stage.

I agree with comments below, but also when adding an owner (when the owner is a company) as a related contact we would also like to add as a related contact the director/s of the company as they are the people we are actually dealing with. Just need to expand the drop down menu to include an option to select Director. The system handles commercial properties and many commercial properties are owned by companies, trusts, SMSF etc so we really need the ability to add related contacts other than just the owner when the owner is a company or other type of entity.

We understand that the idea of POA and Mortgagee sales - in these cases however does the correspondence and decisions not flow to the party in exactly the same way as it would an owner?
What i'm getting at is... is this any more than a semantic difference. Is this simply a label that you need to apply so that when you're looking at a property you know that the person is the "Executor" or do you systematically interact with an Executor differently to an owner?

Sometimes a property may be owned by someone who is not the seller, for example if there is an Executor, a Mortgagee Sale or Deceased Estate. We need to connect the actual seller to the property so that all information is recorded to the property. If we needed to treat the contact differently during mail merges etc, we would use the tag system.

Contact details such as phone, email and fax are not displayed in the legal tab.

It is not always the owner that is responsible for a property, sometimes it is a family member or someone with Power of Attorney. We need to be able to link them with the property. So instead of just the owner/tenant options we need an option that describes this.

Hi Michael, You can add the person as a related contact to a reminder regardless of whether or not they are associated with the core listing record.

You do raise a few other points here regarding ease of access for contacts associated with active contracts however so we'll leave this suggestion open for voting.

This feature is really important so we can quickly see the solicitors & tenants details immediately rather than having to go to Legal etc to search as we quite often need to contact them so it would make things so much more efficient especially when you're on the phone to them.

Totally agree! There is the option for 'custom field' for relationship type in the contacts section - can we add this to the relationship type for the listing? We're limited to only owner or purchaser in the listing section. We were thinking to be able to show the owners solicitor & purchasers solicitor & also the tenant contact details (if the listing is tenanted for arranging inspections etc). But the finance broker is another example. These are all 'contacts' who are important and related to the listing process & being able to quickly view & access their contact details is important.
